I first met David early in 1957. We became very close friends and remained so until our ways separated in 1962. David was always generous, reliable and good humoured and was greatly missed at Poplar when he left for Hampshire. Although we maintained contact for a number of years we gradually drifted. I was very fortunate to have made contact with David again towards the end of 2020 and found that he had not changed – still the same cheerful, positive, happy David that I knew all those years ago. I enjoyed our chats on the telephone over the last few months and will miss him. May he Rest in Peace.
